Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition gets a range of exterior and interior enhancements and holds on to the Iron Man theme with perfection
The verbal ranting between Marvel and DC fans can upset the general unaffectionate but for those showing tremendous passion towards them, buying just the toys and scale models of their favourite superheroes would not do justice. If you want to step up the game further, a compact SUV adorning the Marvel theme is right at your disposal.
Hyundai showcased a near-production version of the Kona Iron Man Edition when the SUV saw the light back in December 2017. It rode on bigger 19-inch wheels and had sleeker side mirror caps and retractable door handles. However, the production version is more conventional but what is the relation between Iron Man and Kona?
The triathlon Ironman World Championship was hosted in the place called Kona in Hawaii, which coincidentally gave the name for the SUV. Since the Kona Iron Man Edition will have good reception among customers, Hyundai has restricted the production to maintain its exclusivity in the international markets.
Just a year after the special edition made its debut in San Diego Comic-Con, the first buyer has taken delivery. On the outside, the Iron Man Edition gets matte grey colour scheme with contrast red accents similar to the super suit of Tony Stark. It is lavishing like the highly popular Avengers superhero played by Robert Downey Jr.
Some of the key exterior features are chromed out dark front cascading grille, Iron Man emblems on the front fenders, Stark Industries decals on the bumper and boot door, LED illumination, dual-tone 18-inch machined alloy wheels with Iron Man centre caps, red highlights on the bumper edge, bonnet, lower side profile, pillars, roof and roof rails.
Iron Man mask on the Kona’s roof, emblem on the key fob, red interior accents, embroidered Stark Industries logo on the front seats, embossed Iron Man Mask, HUD with Iron Man graphics and Tony Stark signature on the centre console will make the Marvel fans jump into action and reserve one.
Hyundai has a long association with the Avengers superheroes though as the Veloster appeared in the Ant-Man and the Wasp movie and don’t be surprised if the South Korean brand brings in more special edition Marvel based models in the near future.
In the United States, the Kona Iron Man Edition is ready for purchase as the FWD variant costs $31,595 and the AWD at $32,995 – Just over $3,000 more than the standard Kona Ultimate. The electric version of the Kona will be launched in India in the second half of this year.
