Hyundai Eon Sports Edition comes with a touchscreen infotainment system and other cosmetic upgrades; available only in 800 cc variant and ready to challenge Kwid
Hyundai has launched the Eon Sports Edition in India priced between Rs. 3,88,410 and Rs. 4,18,118 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Based on the 800 cc variant, the Eon Sports Edition comes available in Era Plus and Magna Plus grade option. The limited edition hatchback sports few cosmetic upgrades enhancing the visual appeal and inside the cabin a touchscreen infotainment system has been introduced as well.
Being positioned in the entry level car segment and equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, the Eon Sports Edition challenges the top-end variant of Renault Kwid. Hyundai believes that with introduction of such features and cosmetic upgrades, Eon’s sales will get a boost. Interestingly, the limited edition model comes ahead of the arrival of facelifted Eon.
At exterior, the Hyundai Eon Sports Edition gets similar silhouette as the standard model. But the black side body moulding and roof rails enhance the visual appeal further and make it distinctive. Interestingly, Hyundai refrained from introducing any sporty body graphics or spoiler to the Eon Sports Edition. Usually, these features are used in every sports edition models. However, the 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system inside the cabin enhances the hatchback’s appeal much further compared to its biggest rival Maruti Suzuki Alto 800.
By not introducing the Sports Edition to the 1.0-litre variant of Eon, Hyundai seems to have focused on those customers who are tight on budget, but seek as much as possible from their car. The Eon Sports Edition models come priced Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 16,000 premium over their respective standard models. It comes available in two different colour options, Solid and Metallic.
While the exterior and interior of the Hyundai Eon receive couple of visual updates and new feature, the powertrain remains untouched. The 0.8-litre petrol engine under the hood of the Hyundai Eon is capable of churning out 56 PS of peak power and 7 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty is done by a 5-speed manual gearbox and the engine delivers 21.1 kmpl of fuel efficiency.
