China is the most important EV market in world as government is giving more importance for EVs to reduce pollution. In recent times, so many start-ups in China are working on EV and global manufacturers are expected to roll out more new models next year onwards. Kia is currently working on an EV version of KX3 compact SUV.

The KX3 is based on Hyundai Creta platform, which made its debut in 2015 and EV variant of KX3 has been spotted in public road for first time. The EV variant get same design theme as regular model except for some changes like closed grille to reduce drag and improve efficiency. The charging port is hidden on left side of grille.

The projector headlamp with integrated DRLs has a small blue accent and new alloy wheels, which are designed to reduce drag. The rear continues the same design theme as regular model. The interior is going to be same for EV model and features list includes 7 inch touch screen infotainment system, climate control, leather seats, cruise control and more.

Kia KX3 EV is expected to be powered by 45.2 kwh Lithium-ion batter pack and electric motors produce 111 PS of power. The Niro EV is offered with two batter packs – the powerful 64 kwh battery pack comes with 379 km range and smaller 32 kwh battery pack gives 241 km. Kia hasn’t revealed details about power output of Niro EV but the concept model at CES produces 201 bhp, so we can expect production model to come with similar power output.
