Hyundai India registered 527,320 units in 2017 marking the brand’s highest-ever domestic sales here; Creta and i20 contributed significantly

Hyundai has experienced pretty impressive sales result in Indian market in 2017. The South Korean auto major posted 10% YoY sales growth in December 2016, combining both domestic and export number. It registered record sales of 527,320 units and cumulative number of 678,221 units in the last calendar year. The new Verna sedan has played key role in the growth of brand.

Not only new Verna sedan, but Grand i10, Elite i20 and Creta too have played major role in posting significant growth. What’s more interesting is, Hyundai didn’t launch a wide range of cars in 2017. The only major launch was new Verna. Apart from that, there were several facelift models that were introduced in 2017.

Hyundai says the brand was able to surpass its own business plan in 2017 as the company posted its highest ever domestic sales number here. This marked 5.4% sales growth for the auto major in India. Apart from the Verna sedan and other cars, several other factors also played significant role in boosting its business.

Strong after sales service, low cost of ownership, a good monsoon and salary hike thanks to the seventh pay commission are the factors behind the growth of the company. Inspired by this success, the auto major is expecting to see a further impressive growth in 2018. As part of its growth strategy for Indian market, the brand will roll out several new models in the country.

As we have already reported, Hyundai is focusing on strengthening its position in the UV market that is one of the highly in demand and bestselling categories in India. The upcoming launches from the Korean brand in India includes the Carlino based SUV, Kona, a Kwid rival hatchback with SUV stance.
