HSRP To Come As Standard With New Vehicles From April 2019

The High-Security Registration Plates must be provided by manufacturers and all vehicles sold from April 2019 must come as standard

Automobile theft is one of the biggest business in India and government along with manufacturers are working on new technologies to make it safer. Most of the modern cars are fitted with anti-theft alarms along with other safety things to stop theft. The government has already introduced high-security registration plates.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, all vehicles to be sold from April 2019 must come pre-fitted with High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) as a standard feature. The notification also states that the high-security registration plate including the third registration mark shall be supplied by the manufacturer.

The dealers can also provide the high-security registrations plates for new and old vehicles also. The ministry wants to make sure that the quality of the number plates must be good, which is why the manufacturer is providing them. The existing vehicles can also get this number plate as they need to surrender the old one to the dealer.

The registration plate come with 15 years of guarantee and if the HSRP has any damage due to nature or breaks or withers then the dealer, who fitted the number plate must replace it with a new one. In April the ministry has asked for suggestions and objections before finalizing the new law.

The HSRP comes with lots of advanced technologies as it gets a chromium-based hologram on the top left corner as it contains the Ashok Chakra in blue colour. There will be laser etched 9-digit code, security inscript, embossed borders and alpha numerals. The number also get superior grade reflective sheeting and snap locks, which can’t be used again.

The price of this number plate might be added to the cost of the product as the manufacturer need to provide it. The government is taking lots of initiatives to make our roads safer as all two-wheelers above 125 cc must come with ABS braking system and combined braking system for two-wheelers below 125 cc.
