Honda Cars India has announced that the subcompact WR-V crossover has achieved 50,000 cumulative sales milestone in India in just twelve months of its launch. Launched back in March last year, the Honda WR-V quickly rose to the fame of being the second best-selling vehicle for the Japanese brand in India monthly.
It has accounted for 28 percent of total sales endured by Honda during the past one year. Standing in line with the WR-V’s premium nature with segment-first features like sunroof, Tier 1 markets have contributed to 38 percent of its sales across the country.

Since the WR-V is retailed in both petrol and diesel engine options, the former accounted for 42 percent of total sales while the latter is the most preferred with 58 percent. Among the territories, northern states attributed to 30 percent, south with 27 percent, west and east with 28 percent and 15 percent respectively.

On the other hand, the 1.2-litre i-VTEC SOHC petrol engine develops 90 PS at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm at 4,800 rpm. It is mated to a five-speed manual. The diesel motor is claimed to deliver fuel efficiency of 25.5 kmpl and the petrol model is rated to return 17.5 kmpl. The WR-V competes against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon.
