The 2019 Honda City VX variant misses out certain features like LED headlamps, fog lamps, leather seats but the company has added LED tail lamps

Honda silently updated the features list of City VX variant. The new model misses out on some features compared to the 2018 model like LED headlamps, fog lamps, leather seats and soft-touch dashboard but the 2019 model gains LED tail lamps and revised trim pieces on the door pads.

The VX variant of City is Rs. 1.19 lakh cheaper than the top-spec ZX trim and it comes with features like 7-inch touch screen infotainment with 1.5 GB internal storage, an in-built navigation system, Bluetooth, 8 speakers, multi-function steering wheel, 16-inch alloy wheels, electric sunroof, climate control, keyless entry, push-button start and more.

The only safety feature missing on the VX variant is 6 airbags compared to ZX as it gets dual airbags along with ABS with EBD, ISOFIX compatible rear side seats with lower anchorage and top tether, rear windshield defogger, driver seatbelt reminder and reverse camera with parking sensors.

The City is powered by both diesel and petrol engines. The 1.5 L i-VTEC engine puts out 119 PS of power at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm. The diesel engine is also 1.5 L and it produces 100 PS at 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. The Amaze compact sedan also uses this same diesel engine. The petrol engine comes with both manual and automatic gearbox options while the diesel gets manual only.

According to ARAI, the City diesel returns 25.6 km/l. 18.0 km/l for the petrol CVT and 17.4 Km/l for the petrol manual. Honda recently introduced the top-spec ZX petrol variant with a manual transmission as earlier it was available only with a CVT gearbox. The manual ZX variant is Rs. 1.3 lakhs cheaper than the CVT.

The petrol manual VX variant starts at Rs. 11.56 lakh and Rs. 12.86 lakh for the diesel variant. Honda is currently working on the next generation of City and it is expected to be launched in India next year. The hybrid variant of City will be introduced only in 2021 and it will compete against Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid and Toyota Yaris.
