Honda Celebrates 25th Anniversary Of Type R And Fireblade Performance

Honda introduced Type R badge in NSX in 1992; the same year it launched CBR900RR Fireblade

Honda is known for making some stunning products with both four wheels and two wheels. The Type R badge is certainly a benchmark in the high performance car category. Now, after 25 glorious years Honda is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Type R and Fireblade Performance, in the four-wheel and two-wheel category respectively.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary, Honda managed to gather the Type R cars and Fireblade bikes at the Rockingham Motor Speedway in UK, where both the old and the new models were displayed. The company also promised that it will continue rolling out more exciting and more powerful cars and bikes under these two iconic badges. With the world automobile market nearing pure electric mobility, Honda too is gearing up to adopt that environment friendly technology and it aims to launch zero emission electric powertrains equipped cars with Type R badge.

The Japanese automaker introduced the Type R performance badge with the NSX back in 1992. The same year, it rolled out the CBR900RR Fireblade impressive the motorcycle enthusiasts across the world. The Integra or the Acura in US, was the second model from the brand to get the Type R badge. However, the Honda Civic Type R and Honda Accord Type R managed to steal the show as the bestselling Type R models.

On the motorcycle segment, Honda evolved the Fireblade to the 929RR and 954RR after the success of CBR900RR. Finally, the Fireblade badge was introduced to the 1,000cc sportsbike segment with the CBR1000RR.

As we reported earlier, Honda is currently working on a more powerful Civic Type R that is expected to hit market soon. It will get an upgraded 1.5-litre engine and it will lock horns with the rivals like Volkswagen Golf R and Ford Focus RS. Also, the new Honda Civic Type R will receive an All Wheel Drive configuration.
