2 Lakh motorcycle sales mark for the first time along with 4 lakh mark for scooters in one single month
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is starting the new fiscal 2018-19 with record sales as the company sold more than six lakh units in April. For the first time, Honda sold more than 4 lakh units of scooter and 2 lakh units of bikes in a single month. Honda has managed to sell 6,35,811 units in April 2018 compared to 5,51,732 in April 2018 which is 15 percent YoY growth. The exports of Honda has also gone up by 70 percent and the total growth is 18 percent which again an all time highest for the company.
The first major festival season of this year recorded 80 percent growth for the company compared to previous year which is also one of the reasons for strong numbers in April and the sales of Grazia crossed 1 lakh within 5 months of launch. The Japanese manufacturer is expecting the growth to continue this year as they are planning to launch 18 upgrades in this fiscal followed by an all new bike which is CB 125F.

Honda is also planning to expand its dealerships to 6000 touch points by the end of this fiscal along with the upgrading plans for the existing manufacturing facilities. The company is also working on BSVI engines as it will be the next big step up in emission norms. Honda Activa 5G is the segment leader in scooter segment and Shine SP which is leading the 125 segment.
Honda introduced an update for Activa at 2018 Auto Expo. The Activa 5G gets LED headlamp along with new updated digital instrument cluster and new colours. Apart from this the Activa 5G remains the same and it is powered by 109 cc engine producing 8 hp of power at 7,500 rpm and 9 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. This engine is mated to CVT transmission.

Honda CB Shine SP is developed specially for emerging market like India with efficiency as top priority. The Shine SP is powered by 125 cc engine producing 10 hp of power and 11 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to 4 speed gearbox and returns 55 kmpl. The Shine SP is priced between Rs. 58,090 and Rs. 63,309 (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai).
