Honda Activa 6G could be launched in India on June 12 with evolutionary exterior changes and inclusion of fuel injection technology

Little over a week ago, Honda 2Wheelers India released a statement announcing the launch of a brand new product on June 12. Called as a “new wave of excitement”, we do not have an official word on what the two-wheeler will be. Since the launch date surfaced, speculations surrounding the possibility of the new product have come in abundance.

Honda has been quite busy with launches in recent months as the CB300R was introduced for a starting price of Rs. 2.41 lakh (ex-showroom) earlier this year and the new CBR650R middleweight sports tourer arrived costing Rs. 7.70 lakh (ex-showroom). This instigated the rumours that another premium product is being readied and it could be the naked CB650R.

However, looking at the current scenario, Honda has been struggling with the sales of the Activa by registering regular YoY de-growth and its top-selling CB Shine could not manage its consistency either. Thus, the recently launched limited edition Activa 5G and CB Shine 125 could be followed by a brand new generation Activa.

The test mules of the sixth generation Activa had appeared quite a few times already on the interweb showing us what to expect from the new model. The Honda Activa 6G will likely boast a slew of updates in response to the growing competition both mechanically and cosmetically.

Some of the highlighting features expected are telescopic front forks, an all-digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity, optional disc brakes and alloy wheels of 12-inch size. The powertrain will reportedly be BSVI compliant as well and it could gain fuel injection.

The same 109 cc single-cylinder air-cooled HET engine producing 7.96 PS and 9 Nm of peak torque could be tuned to deliver slightly more performance. Due to the possible presence of Fi technology, the engine could become more responsive and fuel efficient in the process.

The Japanese manufacturer could use this opportunity and introduce new graphics and colour schemes in the Activa 6G to complement the evolutionary exterior changes. With a slight increase in pricing, it is predicted to cost around Rs. 60,000 (ex-showroom) when introduced.
