Honda Shine 100 cc will be launched on March 15 and is expected to have its design inspired by the Shine; will likely feature a new 100 cc powertrain

Honda has released the second teaser video of its all-new entry-level commuter motorcycle ahead of its official market launch on March 15, 2023. While the first teaser did not give many details, we now get an understanding of how its styling will be. The Japanese manufacturer sent an invite to us which read: ‘Gear up for a shining future’

This instigated the speculations that the upcoming motorcycle will be based on the Shine and the teaser confirms just that. The design sketch of the Hero Splendor rival shows the presence of a sharp-looking headlamp with an angular flyscreen and a pair of sleek mirrors. A single-piece flat seat, split grab rail, side-mounted exhaust and alloy wheels can also be seen.

The alloy wheels could be of 18-inches and the fuel tank has a slim shape. Other contemporary elements such as a wide rear mudguard, telescopic front forks, twin-sided rear shock absorbers, rear halogen turn indicators and perhaps an LED Daytime Running Light could be made available. The upright handlebar positioning further emphasises its commuter appeal.

Honda is expected to offer the motorcycle in multiple variants and it will be powered by a new 100 cc engine with its performance ranging around 8 bhp and 8 Nm. It will also gain combined braking system and a semi-digital instrument console. The powertrain is expected to have the signature Honda refinement while a start/stop system could help in saving more fuel.

The brand already garners high-volume sales with the Activa and the upcoming 100 cc motorcycle will further help in increasing its numbers. We do expect Honda to price it around Rs. 74,000 (ex-showroom). Honda is known for getting the most out of the existing domestic range while the prices of its models in the above-150 cc range certainly raise eyebrows.

Honda has announced the prices of the custom kits for H’ness CB350 and CB350 RS. Only a few weeks ago, the H-Smart variant of the Activa 6G made its way to the market.
