The new Amaze has not just become the top-selling vehicle within the brand’s portfolio as it has also entered the top 10 monthly sales table

Honda Cars India has registered YoY growth of 37.5 percent in sales last month, effectively giving way for the Japanese auto major to overtake Mahindra & Mahindra in sheer volume count. A total of 17,602 examples were retailed and compared to the same month last year, 4,798 more units were delivered.

It is easy to see where Honda gained as the arrival of the new generation Amaze subcompact sedan has paid dividends. HCIL overtook Mahindra by 1,660 units to be positioned fourth in the monthly sales chart among manufacturers as Maruti Suzuki led from Hyundai and the resurgent Tata Motors.

Honda has continued to sell more than 9,000 units of the Amaze for the second consecutive month as the new generation model has been well received among customers. This meant Mahindra had to drop two places to fifth as Tata continued its good run of form with the latest vehicles with Tiago posting its best-ever monthly sales.

Back to Honda, the new Amaze has not just become the top-selling vehicle within the brand’s portfolio as it has also entered the top 10 monthly sales table for the first time with its arch rival Maruti Suzuki Dzire leading Swift and Alto hatchbacks at the top.

The Amaze clocked 9,103 unit sales as the demand is strong courtesy of early monsoon arrival across the country, as well as the sedan boasting several segment-first features. Sold in a total of 12 variants, the Amaze is priced between Rs. 5.6 lakh and Rs. 9 lakh (both prices ex-showroom).

Honda will be consolidating its premium lineup with the launch of tenth generation global Civic and new CR-V by the end of this year. Mahindra won’t back down either as a slew of new products waiting in the pipeline including an Innova-rivalling MPV and a subcompact SUV competing against Vitara Brezza.
