The Honda Neo Sports Cafe racer will be powered by 998 cc inline four-cylinder engine from Fireblade; boasts modern-retro design

Honda two-wheelers released first teaser of its upcoming cafe racer in a new video earlier this month before the quite arrival of the second teaser. The new bike has been developed under the company’s NSC (Neo Sports cafe) project and it is based on a cafe racer design language. The motorcycle will break cover on the 6th of November, a day before the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy starts for its 2017 edition.

While the teasers did not reveal much information, thanks to Honda, we have got a preview of the EICMA-bound model already at the ongoing 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Besides the release of the all-new Gold Wing, Honda also showcased the Neo Sports Cafe Concept and it excitingly was almost production ready glancing through the pictures.

The NSC project derives power from a 998 cc inline four-cylinder water-cooled engine of the current generation Fireblade. The Neo Sports Cafe comes with an appealing styling with a naked stance and comprises of modern-retro design while there is presence of myriad of features like inverted fork setup up front that can be fully adjustable and a single-sided swingarm.

The concept is less conventional and lacked production components as we can tell like the obvious exclusion of the numberplate hanger at the rear but the teaser video did show us its presence. It is mounted on the swingarm rather than the tail section. Correlating the teaser video and concept, the prototype displayed in Tokyo does seem to have production-ready headlamp unit.

The brakes will be assisted by ABS system and the exhaust unit will have multiple exits as in the concept with an under slung catalytic converter in the collector box.  The velocity stacks won’t be found on the road-going model as an airbox, fed from the front, will be nestled in place under the fuel tank.

The NSC seems to share the same seat and mirrors as the current CB650F model. The front section of the Neo sports cafe racer gets a rounded headlamp and it will be a full LED unit with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) using multiple bright white lights. The turning winkers will also be LED type and by seeing the positioning of the handlebar, one can easily figure out that the motorcycle will offer a comfortable riding position.

The tank and headlamp show resemblance that of the CB4 concept showcased at the 2015 EICMA show. It was based on the existing CB650F platform with a futuristic naked styling and was a big hit among visitors when it debuted among a slew of Honda concepts that year.

The bike will come with a single saddle that well compliments the neatly chiseled fuel tank design. It seems that the bike will come with dual disc brakes equipped with radially mounted callipers up front. The tail end of the production motorcycle will be short and stubby and will feature a bare athletic rear while the rear tyre hugger will also be present.

The motorcycle is expected to receive an analog digital instrument cluster with numbers showing speed and rev counter to be presented with the needle.
