Honda will soon bring the HR-V to the Indian market, it will directly compete with Hyundai Creta along with Maruti S-Cross, Nissan Kicks
Honda will soon launch the HR-V crossover in the Indian market as per some media reports. The crossover is already on sale in the international markets and will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta when it launches in India. Being a crossover, The HR-V will also compete directly with the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross in India.
The facelifted version of the Maruti S-Cross is a favourite car in the Indian market, unlike the pre-facelifted version. How will HR-V compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross in the Indian market? Well, here is a specification comparison that will take you through all the details.
Honda HR-V Vs Maruti S-Cross dimensions
The Honda HR-V is more than 4m length. It measures 4,295mm in length, 1,770mm in width and 1,605mm in height. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 4,300mm in length, 1,785mm in width and 1,595mm in height. The Maruti S-Cross and the HR-V are almost identical in size as both are tagged as crossovers.
|Dimensions||Honda HR-V||Maruti S-cross|
|Length||4,295 mm||4,300 mm|
|Width||1,770 mm||1,785 mm|
|Height||1,605 mm||1,595 mm|
|Wheelbase||2,610 mm||2,600 mm|
However, the HR-V may look more imposing on the road because of its front-end design. HR-V will also be fresh in the market that will cause it to attract more attention on the roads too. The Indian version of the HR-V is likely to look similar to the international version of the vehicle and the only change in the Indian-spec HR-V can be the ground clearance, similar to the Civic.
Maruti S-Cross Vs Honda HR-V engine
A 1.3-litre diesel engine currently powers the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. It generates a maximum power of 89 Bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque. The S-Cross gets a mild-hybrid system that ensures high fuel efficiency. It returns a maximum of 24 km/l, which is phenomenal in the segment.
However, Maruti Suzuki may also put the 1.5-litre all-new diesel engine in the S-Cross soon. Also, the manufacturer decided to put an end to the diesel vehicles from April 2020, we may also get to see the 1.5-litre petrol engine in the S-Cross soon.
The Honda HR-V is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that is also available with the other Honda cars like the City. However, Honda may decide to put the more powerful 1.8-litre engine in the upcoming HR-V, which is already available with the Civic but that will increase the price of the car by a lot.
Hence, it is highly likely that the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine will make its way to the all-new HR-V. The diesel variants of the HR-V are likely to get the 1.6-litre diesel engine that powers the Honda CR-V and the Honda Civic in the Indian market. The 1.6-litre engine is much smoother than the 1.5-litre unit that will make it a better choice for the premium HR-V.
Honda HR-V Vs Maruti S-Cross features
Since all the cars that launch in the Indian market are tweaked to keep the price down, the HR-V will also go through a similar process. However, the Indianised HR-V expected to get features like a touchscreen infotainment system, LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, LED DRL, automatic climate control system, rear AC vents, paddle shifters with the petrol AT engine option and more.
However, the exact feature list is not known. The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross offers a range of features including the leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, jewel-inspired front headlamps with LED DRL, LED projector headlamp, cruise control, infotainment system with steering mounted controls, mild hybrid system, alloy wheels and more.
