Maruti S-Cross Vs Honda HR-V engine

A 1.3-litre diesel engine currently powers the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. It generates a maximum power of 89 Bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque. The S-Cross gets a mild-hybrid system that ensures high fuel efficiency. It returns a maximum of 24 km/l, which is phenomenal in the segment.

However, Maruti Suzuki may also put the 1.5-litre all-new diesel engine in the S-Cross soon. Also, the manufacturer decided to put an end to the diesel vehicles from April 2020, we may also get to see the 1.5-litre petrol engine in the S-Cross soon.

The Honda HR-V is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that is also available with the other Honda cars like the City. However, Honda may decide to put the more powerful 1.8-litre engine in the upcoming HR-V, which is already available with the Civic but that will increase the price of the car by a lot.

Hence, it is highly likely that the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine will make its way to the all-new HR-V. The diesel variants of the HR-V are likely to get the 1.6-litre diesel engine that powers the Honda CR-V and the Honda Civic in the Indian market. The 1.6-litre engine is much smoother than the 1.5-litre unit that will make it a better choice for the premium HR-V.
