Honda Cars India is set to launch the HR-V SUV in India soon and will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and the MG Hector

It is no secret that India has a love for SUVs and almost everyone that wants to buy a new car today, considers buying an SUV, with most of them going ahead and doing so. And with almost every major auto manufacturer joining in on the SUV bandwagon, Honda seems to have been lagging behind.

They did come out with the WR-V which is a compact SUV, but then after that, their next SUV offering is the Honda CR-V. This means, there is a huge gap between these two car prices and as a result, Honda decided to bring in the HR-V, which has already been announced for India.

Now, however, there is a timeline that is expected for the HR-V to hit the Indian roads, which is being said to be the upcoming festive season. During this time, car sales are usually on the higher side with showrooms witnessing more footfall, and buyers purchasing more cars.

Also, the Honda HR-V competes in a segment which has seen most launches in the past one year due to the increasing popularity. The test unit of the Honda HR-V which was spotted recently was a heavily camouflaged one but it did show the silhouette of the car which has a resemblance to the third-generation of the Honda CR-V.

As of now, there is no confirmation on the mechanical specifications of the car but it is expected to be powered by the BS-VI ready 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that is also seen on the Honda City. Also, HR-V will inherit most of the features from Civic and CR-V.2019 Honda HR-V Sport Interior2019 Honda HR-V Sport Interior

The Honda HR-V will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and the MG Hector. However, since the Kia Seltos is also expected to launch soon, we could see two new products competing in this segment soon. Expect the pricing to be between Rs 11-17 Lakh (ex-showroom).
