Honda Grazia sales dropped by 63 per cent in January and it lost the second position to TVS Ntorq in the 125 cc scooter segment
Honda sold 8,368 units of Grazia last month compared to 22,656 units in the same month last year and registered 63 per cent negative growth. The Grazia was introduced towards the end of 2017 and sales of the scooter was really good for the first 6-8 months. Since the launch of TVS Ntorq 125 in February 2018, the sales of Grazia have been affected.
Both scooters were head to head in the initial months, then the NTorq 125 started to pull ahead and the sales of Grazia began to drop quickly. Suzuki introduced Burgman Street 125 and the maxi-scooter further took sales away from Grazia. Suzuki Access is the current leader in the 125 cc scooter segment with a huge lead over others.
TVS Ntorq has beat Honda Grazia to take the second position and the third position is expected to be taken away from Grazia by Burgman Street 125 in coming months. The Grazia was the first scooter in its segment to introduce advanced features like LED headlamps and all digital instrument cluster, now it is available in other models also.
Honda has managed to sell 1,91,543 units of Grazia in 2018, which is more than Ntorq as TVS sold only 1,82,085 units as the sales of scooter began only in February and it took a couple of months for the scooter to post good numbers. The NTorq also comes with the advanced instrument cluster, which can be connected to a smartphone and it gets loads of features like navigation etc.
The Ntorq is more powerful than Grazia as it is powered by 124.79 cc engine producing 9.4 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 10.5 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The Grazia is powered by 124.9 cc single engine, which puts out 8.63 PS of maximum power at 6,500 rpm and 10.54 Nm at 5,000 rpm. Both these engines are mated to a CVT gearbox.
Both scooters come with telescopic forks at the front and gas-filled single shock absorber for Grazia & single hydraulic shock absorber for Grazia. TVS has given slightly bigger 220 mm disc at front and 130 mm drum at the rear. The Grazia comes with 190 mm disc at front and 130 mm drum at rear with CBS. According to ARAI, the Grazia returns 50 Km/l and 48 Km/l for Ntorq.
