Fourth Generation Honda City Achieves 2.5 Lakh Sales Mark in India

India attributes to 25% of current Honda City’s global sales; the facelift version has garnered more than 29,000 booking

Honda City has crossed the 2.5 lakh sales milestone in India. Fourth generation model of the popular midsize sedan has registered a cumulative global sales of around one million units, which means India contributed to 25% of the total sales of this car. The Japanese automaker launched a facelift version of the sedan earlier this year that has earned positive response from the buyers and helped in enhancing the car’s appeal further.

The facelifted Honda City has received more than 29,000 units of bookings since it has been launched here. With the 2.5 lakh units sold, the current generation Honda City is the highest selling City yet in the Indian market. Despite tough competition from rivals like the segment leading Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento the City has managed to keep its sales figure stable.

Honda City is one of the widely popular sedans from the Japanese brand that has been in business for quite long time. It has registered cumulative sales of more than 3.5 million across the world in more than 60 countries. In India, it has sold more than 6.8 lakh units since launch.

Thanks to the facelifted version, the Honda City has managed to increase its sales figure significantly. Last month it sold 9,994 units compared to 9,098 units in the same month last year. The automaker says that nearly 30% of the customers are opted towards CVT equipped petrol models that offer the comfort of clutch-less driving. The car comes priced between Rs. 8.63 lakh and Rs. 13.72 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The 2017 Honda City comes sporting a very stylish look along with revised upmarket features inside the cabin. It has become sharper than before, while inside the cabin the contemporary modern features along with ample space and comfort make it a very attractive product. On the powertrain front, this sedan boasts a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine as well. Transmission options include both 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT gearbox.
