Honda CBR300R has replaced the CBR250R previously in some foreign markets; it could be the case in India too

Honda two-wheelers India had earlier announced that it would launch four products in the current financial year. Out of these – while the three have already seen the light in the form of Honda Africa Twin, Cliq and Grazia – the remaining one of them is still awaited. If reports are to be believed, the final piece in the puzzle could be a motorcycle that will either replace the CBR150R or CBR250R in India.

For those not in the know, the production of Honda CBR150R and CBR250R was suspended already and not a single unit has been manufactured since April last year. An array of speculations on the internet suggests that Honda will be bringing a replacement of one of these two retired CBRs for the country’s two wheeler market.

The discontinued Honda CBR250R has been replaced by the CBR300R in some global markets. There is also a chance that the company will launch the new Honda CBR250RR in the Indian market but on cost basis the performance version could prove to be too much for India. If the CBR300R arrives in the country, it will challenge the competitive 300cc sportsbike segment that includes some worthy players like KTM RC390, Yamaha R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the TVS Apache RR 310.

On the other hand, if Honda is looking to find a replacement for Honda CBR150R in India, it could better launch the latest CBR150R available elsewhere. The bike is already on sale internationally and gets a major overhaul in comparison to its predecessor. With Yamaha working on the launch of YZF-R15 V3.0 and is expected to arrive as early as February 2018, it seems that things will spice up in the said segment.

Now, it will be really interesting to see what exactly Honda has in mind for India and what machines will replace the popular CBR150R and CBR250R. Currently, Honda has no sportbike in the sub 2 lakh category and hence the company will definitely have high hopes from the new comer.

We hope this to be the remaining launch from Honda this fiscal and it could be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo next month accompanying the possible debut of Rebel 300.
