GST Effect: Honda Cars Are Cheaper by Up To Rs. 1.31 Lakh

Newly introduced Goods and Services Tax (GST) has made the car buying easier than before. Every other automaker in the country are offering price cuts after the new tax system rolled out on 1st July 2017. Like other companies Honda Car India too is offering the benefits of the new tax system to the customers. Thanks to the GST, this Japanese auto giant has announced price cut ranging between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 1.31 lakh across its entire portfolio.

The brand currently sells several popular models in the country that include Brio hatchback, Jazz premium hatchback, WR-V crossover, City midsize sedan in the domestic market and all these cars have seen price reduction. The price cut is varied depending on different locations and different trims of the models. While most of the cars have become cheaper, the Honda Accord hybrid sedan has become pricier in the new tax structure.

GST imposes 43% of total tax incidence on the hybrid and electric cars compared to previous 30.3% total tax amount. Due to this, the Honda Accord hybrid sedan will be slapped with a 15% cess over and above the 28% GST. Currently sold at a price tag of Rs. 37.22 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), Accord hybrid’s revised pricing is yet to be announced.
