GST Effect: Honda Cars Are Cheaper by Up To Rs. 1.31 Lakh

Newly introduced Goods and Services Tax (GST) has made the car buying easier than before. Every other automaker in the country are offering price cuts after the new tax system rolled out on 1st July 2017. Like other companies Honda Car India too is offering the benefits of the new tax system to the customers. Thanks to the GST, this Japanese auto giant has announced price cut ranging between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 1.31 lakh across its entire portfolio.

The brand currently sells several popular models in the country that include Brio hatchback, Jazz premium hatchback, WR-V crossover, City midsize sedan in the domestic market and all these cars have seen price reduction. The price cut is varied depending on different locations and different trims of the models. While most of the cars have become cheaper, the Honda Accord hybrid sedan has become pricier in the new tax structure.

GST imposes 43% of total tax incidence on the hybrid and electric cars compared to previous 30.3% total tax amount. Due to this, the Honda Accord hybrid sedan will be slapped with a 15% cess over and above the 28% GST. Currently sold at a price tag of Rs. 37.22 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), Accord hybrid’s revised pricing is yet to be announced. Meanwhile, let’s take a look at the Honda cars that have become cheaper compared to their pre-GST pricing.

Honda Brio Price After GST

Honda Brio is the Japanese automaker’s offering in the entry level hatchback segment. This popular car has received a price cut between Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 12,000. No wonder, with this price reduction, the Brio becomes more affordable and it is expected to improve the sales figure of the model in coming months. Currently, it is priced between Rs. 4.66 lakh and Rs. 6.75 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), compared to its pre-GST pricing of Rs. 4.74 lakh – Rs. 6.87 lakh.

Honda Amaze Price After GST

Honda Amaze compact sedan is quite popular in the country despite the presence of the rivals like Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire in the same category. Thanks to GST, this compact sedan has become cheaper by Rs. 9,000 – Rs. 12,000 in Delhi. Currently, the compact sedan is priced at Rs. 5.50 lakh and Rs. 8.40 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), compared to its pre-GST pricing of Rs. 5.59 lakh – Rs. 8.52 lakh.

Honda Jazz Price After GST

Premium hatchback segment in India has become pretty popular in recent past with models like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo present there. Honda updated the Jazz premium sedan with sharper and more stylish appearance two years back. Under the GST, this car has become cheaper by Rs. 6,000 – Rs. 8,000 in Delhi. Currently it is priced between Rs. 5.89 lakh and Rs. 9.19 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), compared to its pre-GST pricing Rs. 5.95 lakh – Rs. 9.27 lakh.

Honda WR-V Price After GST

Honda WR-V is the Japanese automaker’s product to compete with the rivals like Ford EcoSport. This compact crossover has become pretty popular in the country within short span after launch, thanks to its chunky muscular design, upmarket features and efficient powertrain. This car has received a price cut up to Rs. 9,000 in Delhi. Currently, the crossover is priced between Rs. 7.66 lakh and Rs. 9.91 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) compared to its pre-GST pricing of Rs. 7.75 lakh and Rs. 9.99 lakh.

Honda City Price After GST

Honda City has been one of the bestsellers from the Japanese brand since its inception in the domestic market. After the arrival of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz it has seen decline in sales figure, but still the midsize sedan manages to fetch a sizeable sales figure in the country. Newly launched 2017 Honda City has already earned positive response from the buyers and with the price cut it is expected to get more takers in coming months. Thanks to GST, this car has become cheaper by Rs. 16,510 to Rs. 28,005. Currently, this sedan is priced between Rs. 8.46 lakh and Rs. 13.43 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Honda BR-V Price After GST

Honda BR-V was launched in the country market with lots of expectation. But, this car couldn’t fetch the desires sales figure. However, with a whopping price cut up to Rs. 30,000 this car is expected to get some more takers in coming months. The lowest price cut it received is Rs. 19,000 in the base trim. The Honda BR-V is currently priced between Rs. 8.93 lakh and Rs. 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), compared to its pre-GST pricing of Rs. 9.12 lakh – Rs. 13.34 lakh.

Honda CR-V Price After GST

Honda CR-V is one of the premium products from the brand in the Indian market and it is also the flagship SUV from the brand. The CR-V has been in business in the domestic space for quite long time, but it is yet to grab a sizeable share in the segment. But, that doesn’t mean Honda didn’t offer price cut on this model. In fact, the SUV has received the biggest price reduction between Rs. 1.11 lakh and Rs. 1.31 lakh in Delhi. Currently, this model is priced between Rs. 21.53 lakh and Rs. 25.47 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), compared to its pre-GST pricing Rs. 22.64 lakh – Rs. 26.79 lakh.
