Honda officially launched second generation Amaze in India starting at Rs.5.59 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The Japanese manufacturer introduced Amaze with CVT transmission on both petrol and diesel engines which is a segment first. But the CVT transmission is currently available only on the middle S and V variants.
Honda Amaze direct rival is Maruti Suzuki Dzire which offers automatic transmission in top end variant also. But the Dzire come with AMT transmission which is cheap and cost effective, the CVT is expensive and a proper automatic gearbox which is good for the long run. If Honda need to taken on Dzire then they should introduce CVT gearbox on top end VX variant also.

If we compare V and VX variants, the V misses out on touch screen infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation system, reverse parking camera, voice control, steering mounted voice controls, cruise control and driver side one touch up or down with pinch guard. These features on CVT transmission will certainly appeal to lots of customers.

The CVT power figures of diesel engines is little low as the company reduce power out by 20 PS and torque by 40 NM. They have done this to make the engine and gearbox combo work well and efficiency is also a priority for the company. We can expect Amaze to give stiff competition for Dzire with good styling, lots of features and the optional CVT gearbox might be its biggest USP.
