Honda will showcase Activa Electric at the upcoming Customer Electronic Show (2024); the e-scooter will likely debut in India next year

Honda is on the path of electrification and its top-selling scooter Activa will be the first product to go fully electric. The company has been working on the electric Activa for a very long time and as per the reports, the e-scooter will make its international debut early next year.

The 2024 Customer Electronic Show (CES) scheduled to be held from 9th-12th January 2024 in Las Vegas, U.S., will be the ground for the world premiere of its new EV series. Activa Electric is expected to be a part of this event and it will also debut in India next year. The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer plans to achieve its electrification target of increasing the ratio of EV and FCEV sales to 100% globally by 2040.

At the 2024 CES, it will showcase various products including the global EV series models and some key technologies which represent the significant transformation. The company has also released a teaser regarding the same, however, it fails to reveal anything significant and we will have to wait till the event for further details.

Honda SC e: Concept

Coming back to Activa Electric, some media reports claim that it will be one of the key highlights of Honda’s exhibit at the CES 2024. The e-scooter could be showcased as a concept along with a few other prominent products. The Activa is one of the best-selling two-wheelers in the Indian market and the probability of its electric version coming to India is very high.

India could be the first market to get Activa Electric and is expected to be unveiled in the first half of 2024. Going into the details, Activa Electric will come with a fixed-battery system and a claimed top speed of around 50 kmph. Honda will target better range with the e-scooter instead of performance and top speed.

It will likely be based on the regular Activa with some changes to the platform for achieving electrification. This means that it won’t be a ground-up new EV. However, the second electric scooter from Honda will have an electric-specific architecture with a swappable battery setup and it will be positioned in the high-performance e-scooter segment.
