Honda’s legacy with Activa is so profound in India and it has established the brand’s credentials in the domestic market. It took the opportunity at the 2018 Auto Expo to showcase a slew of upcoming launches including the next generation Activa. At the Activa Legacy Zone, Honda also displayed the previous avatars of the Activa from the last 17 years.
With the domestic scooter market reaching greater volume heights than ever before, Honda could not afford to rest on its laurels and in fact it did not as the new generation model has already made its way to the official website. In a dissimilar fashion to the outgoing model, the new generation Activa is priced at Rs. 52,460 for the base STD variant and it goes up to Rs. 54,325 for the DLX model (both prices, ex-showroom New Delhi).

The Honda Activa 5G is powered by the same single-cylinder air-cooled BS4 compliant engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 8 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 9 Nm of peak torque delivered at 5,500 rpm. The reliable 109.19 cc HET engine is connected to a variomatic transmission and is claimed to have a top speed of around 83 kmph.

The Honda Activa 5G won’t have any dimensional changes compared to its predecessor. It measures 1,761 mm in length, 710 in width, 1,149 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,238 mm. It stands 153 mm above the ground and features a seat height of 765 mm.

The eight shades in which the Activa 5G is offered are Dazzle Yellow Metallic, Matte Selene Silver Metallic, Pearl Amazing White, Majestic Brown Metallic, Matte Axis Grey Metallic, Pearl Spartan Red, Trance Blue Metallic and Black.
Honda Activa 5G Design and Features
The Honda Activa 5G comes equipped with noticeably substantial updates compared to the outgoing scooter. Additionally, it gets a new variant called Deluxe. The Activa 5G will feature full LED headlamp and position lamp which are claimed by the Japanese manufacturer to be the first in the 110 cc segment.
It also gets part-analogue and part-digital instrument cluster for the first time as there is an ECO speed indicator, as well as Service Due Indicator for signaling the next trip to the mechanic.
Aesthetically, Honda has not introduced any design change but the front end does feature chrome garnish. It has added a metal muffler protector, front hook and a 4-in-1 lock with seat opener switch and retractable rear hook.

The upcoming scooter will be made available in two new colours schemes namely Dazzle Yellow Metallic and Pearl Spartan Red.

Honda continues with the same mechanical components as the outgoing 4G and uses link-type front suspension and a single rear shock absorber at the rear. The new Activa comes equipped with 130 mm drum brakes on either end with Combined Braking System (CBS) aiding in additional stopping power.
