After a long wait, the Hero Xpulse 200, 200 T and 200 S are launched in India with prices ranging between Rs 94,000 and Rs. 1.05 lakh
The long-awaited Hero Xpulse has finally entered the Indian two-wheeler market today. The successor of the Hero Impulse has been launched in two variants – Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T – both pertaining to different set of customers. The Xpulse 200 is priced from Rs. 97,000 for carb variant while the 200 T is quoted with a price tag of Rs. 94,000 (both prices, ex-showroom).
The Fi version of Xpulse 200 costs Rs. 1.05 lakh while the fully-faired Xtreme 200S is priced at Rs. 98,500 (all ex-showroom prices). While the Xpulse 200 is a proper dual-purpose motorcycle, the 200T is a more road-biased model. Powering the Hero Xpulse 200 and the Xpulse 200T is the same 199.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke, 2V, OHC motor that propels the Xtreme 200R. This engine produces the same 18.4 PS at 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm as in the Xtreme 200R.
Despite having the same performance numbers, the Xpulse 200’s engine is fuel injected while the 200T uses a carburetted version as in the Xtreme 200R. The Xpulse 200 can also be had with the carb engine that reduces the price by around Rs. 8,000. The powertrain is mated to a five-speed transmission on both the motorcycles. The engine has received a re-tune to suit the nature of the new models.

The Hero Xpulse 200 features a long-travel suspension, a higher ground clearance and large spoke wheels (21-inch (F) and 18-inch (R)). They have been shod with Ceat Gripp tires. It also gets a front beak, sump guard, knuckle guards and a high-mounted exhaust for optimized water-wading capacity.
On the other hand, the Hero Xpulse 200T gets the same suspension as the Xtreme 200R. Also, instead of the spoke wheels, it gets 17-inch alloys that get 100/80 tyre at the front and 130/70 tyre at the rear.
Both the motorcycles offer a full-digital LED instrument cluster with Bluetooth compatibility, turn-by-turn navigation, service reminder, call alerts and an eco feature while LED head and tail lamps and a single-channel ABS are other important features.
The Hero Xpulse 200 and the Xpulse 200T have what it takes to carve out a niche for themselves. While the Xpulse 200 can become a more affordable and reliable alternative to the Royal Enfield Himalayan, the other can take on the traditionally-styled streetfighters like the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 but it is still low on performance figures.
Hero MotoCorp has been losing out to almost every other play in the 150-250cc segment due to lack of attractive products. However, with the introduction of the Hero Xpulse 200 and the Xpulse 200T, the company could once again please the enthusiasts with purpose-built enthusiast focussed motorcycles.
The 200T gets sunglass hooks, under seat USB charging, grippy seats and is offered in four colours. The carb Xpulse will remain in production until BSVI deadline of April 2020 and is available in Gloss red and black colour choices while the Xpulse Fi gains Red black, Matte gold and Matte grey colours.
Aluminium bash plate and hand guards are standard on the fuel-injected Xpulse 200. The small luggage Rack has bungee points and the removable rubber on serrated pegs are also standard. The more hardcore Xpulse 200 has wire-spoke wheels with 21-inch front and 18-inch sizes with 190 mm and 150 mm wheel travel respectively. It has 825 mm seat height.
