Hero Splendor Regains Top Spot From Activa In Sales In March 2018

The battle between Splendor and Activa was heating up for some years now as both products snatch top position from each other frequently

Hero Splendor beats Honda Activa to become the best selling two wheeler in the country. Usually the margin between both these products are very low, but this time the margin is huge as Hero sold 2,62,232 units in March 2018 compared to 2,07,546 units of Activa.

The battle between Splendor and Activa was heating up for some years now as both products snatch top position from each other frequently. Even though Honda launched Activa 5G in February, the Japanese manufacturer is not able to improve sales further this time around. Both Splendor and Activa are available in multiple variants and accessible for a wide range of people.

Hero Splendor comes with three engine options – 98.2 cc, 110 cc & 125 cc. The last update given for Splendor series only came recently. Hero Splendor Plus is powered by 98.2 cc single cylinder engine producing 8.36 ps of power at 8,000 rpm and 8.05 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 4 speed gearbox.

The braking duties are done by 130 mm drums at front and 110 mm drums at rear. Hero Splendor Plus is available in Candy Red, High Granite Blue, Cloud Silver, Palace Maroon, Black with Silver, Black with Purple Silver, Black with Purple, Black with Purple Red and Excellent Blue. Hero Splendor range is priced between Rs. 48,500 and Rs. 55,800 (Ex-Showroom).

Every year, Honda brings small update for Activa and this year’s model comes with more changes than previous years as the new 5G gets LED headlight with DRLs which is a segment first and chrome inserts on the front fenders. The Japanese manufacturer has given digital instrument cluster for Activa 5G which is shared with Grazia.

Apart from this, Honda hasn’t changed anything on Activa and it is powered by 109.19 cc engine producing 8 hp of power and 9 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to CVT transmission. Honda Activa is priced between Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 59,000 (Ex-Showroom). Let’s wait and see whether the Splendor can continue the lead in April as well.
