First bike rolled out from Hero MotoCorp’s Halol plant is a Splendor Pro; the company plans to set up its seventh plant in Andhra Pradesh

Hero MotoCorp has rolled out the first bike from its Halol plant. The Splendor Pro manufactured at the facility was presented to the Somnath Temple on Tuesday. The largest two-wheeler manufacturer of Indian market has also said that the formal inauguration ceremony of Halol plant is yet to happen.

Halol facility is the fifth domestic plant of Hero MotoCorp, along with other plants in Daruhera and Gurgaon in haryana, Haridwar in Uttarakhand and Neemrana in Rajasthan. Apart from that, the company has an overseas manufacturing plant in Columbia in South America. Currently, Hero is planning to set up another plant in Andhra Pradesh to increase its production volume.

The brand is gearing up to set up its second international manufacturing plant in Bangladesh. Apart from being the market leader in India, Hero is showing its ambition towards becoming a global brand also. The company has introduced its product in Argentina in January this year and planning to enter several other overseas markets as well.

Hero MotoCorp’s Greenfield plant in Halol began commercial production during third quarter of last year. Currently, the facility has a production capacity of 12 lakh units per annum, which can be increased up to 18 lakh units per year. The two-wheeler manufacturer has proposed a whopping initial investment of Rs. 1,100 crore in the facility.

The company is currently slowly regaining its sales momentum after being hit by demonetisation. Even in February this year too, Hero experience sales decline by 4.8% compared to the same month last year. It sold 5,24,766 units during last month, compared to 5,50,992 units in the corresponding month last year.

Few days back, Hero MotoCorp has removed the Impulse adventure motorcycle from its portfolio. Production for the 150 cc model was already stopped for last couple of months and now the company has removed it from the official website.
