On the back of five new launches, Hero MotoCorp has registered a total of 6,52,028 units in May 2019 with 13 per cent YoY growth
Hero MotoCorp has reported that it has sold a total of 6,52,028 units of motorcycles and scooters in the month of May 2019. Compared to the previous month, the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country retailed 77,662 more units and it is a welcoming increase considering the difficulties faced by the industry as a whole in recent months.
Last month also saw Hero getting past six lakh volume sales mark for the first time since February 2019 when a cumulative total of 6,17,215 units were dispatched. It is comparatively less against May 2019 with a difference of nearly 35,000 units. Hero endured a busy month last time out as three new models were introduced into the domestic market.
The long-anticipated Xpulse 200 was accompanied by 200T and more surprisingly the faired 200S based on the Xtreme 200R. The Xpulse 200 is priced at Rs. 97,000 for carb variant while the 200 T is quoted with a price tag of Rs. 94,000. The Fi version of Xpulse 200 costs Rs. 1.05 lakh and the Xtreme 200S is priced at Rs. 98,500 (all prices, ex-showroom).
The Xpulse 200 is a dual-purpose off-roading focussed adventure motorcycle while the 200T is a more road-biased version using the same 199.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke, 2V, OHC motor producing 18.4 PS at 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission.
The Xpulse 200 comes equipped with a longer travel suspension, higher ground clearance, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels riding on Ceat tyres. Other key features are all-digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, high mounted exhaust, sump and knuckle guards, etc.
The month of May 2019 witnessed Hero launching two new scooters as well. The Maestro 125 came about as the country’s first fuel injected scooter along with the updated Pleasure Plus. Hero is expected to gain more volumes from the newly launched products in the coming months.
