As per our sources, Hero MotoCorp has renamed the Duet 125 as ‘Destini 125’; to be equipped with 125cc engine and i3S idle start/stop technology

The entry-level premium scooters are steadily growing due to the recent affinity towards them from millennial customers. Hero MotoCorp wants a piece of that and is responding with two brand new products. The Duet 125 and Maestro 125 debuted at the 2018 Auto Expo in February and they show the clear intention of the brand with evolutionary approach from their respective 110 cc siblings.

In an exclusive report, we can now reveal that the Duet 125 has been renamed Destini 125. The new moniker does bring more intent into the upcoming scooter which is designed and developed at Hero’s Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. Hero earlier said that the engine fitted into Destini 125 is tuned for better low-end power – relieving the rider from harsh traffic conditions.

The Hero Destini 125 uses a 124.6 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke engine as its power source. The premium scooter features i3S idle start-stop technology for better fuel efficiency and is good enough to deliver a maximum power output of 8.7 bhp at 6,750 rpm and 10.2 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm.

It is connected with a Variomatic Drive automatic transmission. As for the dimensions, the Hero Destini 125 has a length of 1,830 mm, width of 726 mm, along with height of 1,155 mm. It boasts 1,245 mm wheelbase and has 155 mm ground clearance. The upcoming scooter weighs 113 kilograms and is rated to have maximum payload capacity of 130 kilograms.

The Hero Destini 125 comes equipped with telescopic front forks and hydraulic shock absorbers along with single coil spring type hydraulic rear. The braking bite is dealt by 130 mm discs at front and rear respectively, and it could get IBS (Integrated Braking System) as standard in meet the soon-arriving safety regulations.

The Hero Destini 125 i3S has a rather undisturbed exterior with a clean profile. By being an evolution of its 110 cc sibling, it has not forgotten to flaunt some premium qualities like the silver garnish up front, accentuated by the large turn indicators with i3S branding on the front panel and two-tone seat texture.

The exhaust system has silver heat shield protection while the rear section is edgier compared to the front with thick silver grab rail and footrests. Rivalling the likes of TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Burgman Street 125, and Aprilia SR 125, it is expected to be priced around Rs. 62,000 (ex-showroom) upon launch later next month.

The Hero Destini 125 gets 90/100-10 section tubeless front and rear tyres. The equipment list comprises of multi-reflector type halogen bulb headlamp with AHO, digital/analogue combo meter console, LED tail lamp, external fuel filling provision, boot light, body-coloured side mirror, mobile charging port and so on.
