Hero Destini 125 finished fifth in the top 10 sales table for scooters with a total of 21,352 units in January 2019
The Hero Destini 125 was launched in October 2018 in two variants and became the first scooter to feature i3S start/stop technology which does help in increased fuel economy. Developed at Hero’s Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, the Destini 125 has been an instant hit for the brand as it broke into the top 10 selling scooters chart in November 2018 with 16,047 units.
It climbed up the ranks the following month to end the year at fifth position in the monthly sales table for scooters. As expected, the Destini 125 has stared off 2019 with a bang by getting past 20,000 sales mark for the first time. Remaining in fifth position as the previous month, Hero registered a total of 21,352 units as it beat top-selling 125 scooters like the TVS Ntorq that finished a place behind the Destini.
The Destini 125 is priced at Rs. 54,650 for the Lx variant and it goes up to Rs. 57,500 for the Vx grade (both prices, ex-showroom). It made domestic debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in February under the Duet 125 name along with Maestro Edge 125. It should be noted that we were the first to divulge its production name to you.
Sold in four colour schemes namely Noble Red, Chestnut Bronze, Panther Black and Pearl Silver White, the Destini 125 competes against Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125 and Vespa LX 125 among others. It derives power from a 124.6 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that Hero calls as Energy Boost.
It develops a maximum power output of 8.70 bhp at 6,750 rpm and 10.2 Nm of peak torque delivered at 5,000 rpm. It is claimed to have top speed of 85 kmph and measures 1,809 mm long, 729 mm wide and 1,154 mm tall with a wheelbase of 1,245 mm and kerb weight of 112 kilograms.
It comes equipped with dual-tone mirrors, external fuel cap, semi-digital instrument console, boot light, mobile charger, remote key opening, V-shaped prominent chrome finish, standard Integrated Braking System, telescopic front forks, spring loaded hydraulic damper rear suspension, etc.
