The reason behind this price increase is unknown at the moment. On the parallel, the company is offering discount on its scooters

Hero MotoCorp has just hiked the price of its 150cc commuter, the Achiever, in the Indian two-wheeler market. This increment in price comes as a surprise as manufacturers are busy offering discounts with the onset of the festive season. The reason behind this price hike is not clear at the moment.

The Hero Achiever will now be available at the company’s dealerships across India at a price of Rs. 64,769 for the standard version. Earlier, this trim used to be retailed at Rs. 61,800. On the other hand, the disc brake version of the bike will now set you back by Rs. 65,751 as against its previous price tag of Rs. 62,800 (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

As already mentioned, there is no clear reason why the manufacturer has issued the hike in pricing. Neither the company has introduced a new colour scheme to the bike nor it has added any extra features to it. The manufacturer might be receiving a decent demand for this bike and in order to collect more cash in pocket, it might have thought it as a good opportunity to hike the prices.

The Hero Achiever is powered by a 149cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine assisted with a five-speed transmission system. The carbureted engine cranks out a maximum power output of 13.4 bhp along with a peak torque of 12.8 Nm.

The suspension system of the Hero Achiever comprises of conventional telescopic forks at the front along with twin spring shock absorbers at the rear. The braking power is delivered by 130mm drum brakes that have been fitted at both ends. The company is also offering a front 240mm disc brake as an option.

The Hero Achiever has been installed with the company’s patented i3s technology that helps in fuel saving. In this, the engine shuts down automatically when it is at idle and the gearbox is engaged in neutral for more than five seconds. Other features of the motorcycle include a side stand indicator and tubeless tyres. The manufacturer might be receiving a decent demand for this bike and in order to collect more cash in pocket, it may have hiked the prices.
