Heavy NH8 Traffic Jam Let People Park on Highway

The huge traffic jam was caused due to heavy rainfall and water logging

On Thursday night, Delhi-Gurgaon expressway has seen massive traffic jam on NH8 due to heavy rainfall and water logging. The traffic jam was so severe, that many commuters stuck on the roads had to park their cars on highways. They had to go home leaving the cars on the highways only.

Gurgaon police even tweeted and urged the commuters to avoid the NH8 if possible. The Badshahpur drain, which carries the storm water, was breached. Due to that after the heavy rainfall entire area got water logged. Eventually, the expressway and the adjacent roads went under several feet of waters. All kind of vehicles, including buses to cars and bikes got stranded for nearly 6 hours.

The traffic situation was in worst condition near the Sohna road, Hero Honda, Jharsa, Iffco and Shankar chowks. It was seen that vehicles of NSG commandos, central and state officials, ambulances and police cars were stuck as well. Also the traffic between Delhi-Jaipur and Delhi-Mumbai has been disrupted as the NH8 remained cut off. Traffic situation in both the national highway and state highways have been suffered heavily.

 

An hour later after midnight on Friday, the water level started rising on NH8. Due to that scared people pulled down a part of divider on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway to escape. Also stranded people started agitation demanding action against the responsible officials behind the situation. The city police say, traffic situation will stay critical throughout Friday.
