The HD electric cruiser is expensive than its closest rival but it promises 177-kilometre range on full charge, plenty of rider air and an interface for a connected experience

At the ongoing 2019 Consumer Electronics Show, in Las Vegas Harley Davidson has finally announced the prices of their much anticipated LiveWire electric cruiser. The renowned American motorcycle manufacturers only electric cruiser prices start from $ 29,799 (about Rs 21 Lakh in current exchange rates). Besides announcing the prices the two-wheeler manufacturer has also started taking pre-bookings for the cruiser while the deliveries will commence towards the end of this year.

Besides announcing the prices the two-wheeler manufacturer has not revealed any plan whether they will launch the motorcycle in the global market or not anytime soon while the Indian launch has also not been confirmed yet. The electric cruiser is powered by new electric “Revelation” drivetrain.

The drivetrain can deliver all the torque produced by the electric motor with just the twist of the throttle. The expensive electric cruiser has an overall range of about 177 kilometers on full charge while it can sprint from 0-100 kmph mark in just 3.5 seconds. HD however, has not revealed any details of the size of the battery or its power figures yet.

The electric cruiser does not have any exhaust note but Harley Davidson has developed a unique sound which the electric motor generates when the motorcycle accelerates. The LiveWire also features a telematics system called H-D Connect. This system provides the motorcycle related important data like battery charge and service reminders to the owner of the cruiser with the help of Harley’s connected app.

This new technology makes the LiveWire motorcycle the first North American cellular-connected electric motorcycle. Besides the connectivity feature, the motorcycle also features plenty of modern safety aid for the rider like traction control and ABS.

Harley Davidson has been working on this electric motorcycle project for the last five years and it represents the future of the company. Harley Davidson is planning to target the new generation of bikers with this new electric cruiser. This is the first electric cruiser which promises to offer superior acceleration, handling, plenty of rider aid and connected experience at the same time.
