Mahindra Scorpio is one of the most preferred SUVs by the Indian state police forces. Gurugram Police gets six new Scorpios by Society For Safe Gurugram (SSG)
Gurugram Police inducted six brand-new Mahindra Scorpio SUVs on Friday. The SUVs were sponsored by Society For Safe Gurugram (SSG) that works in various ways to help the city police. All the six brand new Scorpios are in white colour and gets the Police decals on it. They also get small flashers mounted on the roof of the vehicle.
The specific variants are not known, but they look like the base variants. There is one vehicle which gets a chrome grille and fog lamps, which is the higher variant. Most Indian police cars get the communication devices mounted on the dashboard, which allows them to talk to the control room without any problem.
There are no pictures of the interiors of the vehicle, but we are sure that all the cars have received communication devices. The Mahindra Scorpio has remained one of the favourite vehicles of the police forces of different states in India. Apart from Gurgaon Police, many other state police forces use the Scorpio.
In fact, the Indo-Tibetian Border Police force that guards important border areas of the country inducted the new Scorpio vehicles to replace the ageing Maruti Suzuki Gypsy. The Mahindra Scorpio’s rugged body and the trusted engine makes them very favourable for long hour patrolling around the city. Also, the commanding road presence makes them an ideal choice for the police forces.
The Mahindra Scorpio is available in both 4X2 and 4X4 set-up. However, as the Gurugram Police will use the vehicle inside the city limits, they have only got the 4X2 variants, which is more than sufficient. Also, Mahindra now offers the 4X4 option of the Scorpio only with the top-end version, which is quite expensive.
Mahindra Scorpio base variant is offered with the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder m2DICR direct injection diesel engine, which is extremely good for rough usage. It generates a maximum power of 75 Bhp at 3,200 rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm between 1,400 and 2,200 rpm.
The S5 and S7 variant of the vehicle gets the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 120 Bhp at 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm between 1,800 and 2,800 rpm. The top-end S11 variant gets the same 2.2-litre mHawk engine but in a more powerful state of tune. It reaches a maximum of 140 Bhp and 320 Nm.
