Toyota Fortuner recorded 2,874 units in the month of September 2023 as against 2,935 units with a YoY negative sales growth of 2 per cent
In the month of September 2023, Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Fortuner continued to lead the way with a domestic tally of 2,874 units as against 2,935 units during the same period last year with a YoY negative sales growth of 2 per cent. The next generation Fortuner is expected to make its global debut sometime next year.
The all-new Fortuner will reportedly get a redesigned exterior in line with the latest Tacoma pickup truck and it will feature a mild hybrid diesel engine. The MG Gloster finished in the second position with a total of 201 units last month as against 311 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago with a YoY volume drop of 35 per cent.
The Skoda Kodiaq managed to record a total of 191 units in September 2023 as against 71 units during the same period last year with a YoY positive sales surge of 169 per cent. The Kodiaq has a lot in common with the Volkswagen Tiguan, which was positioned fourth with the same domestic tally.
Full-Size SUVs (YoY) | Sep 2023 Sales | Sep 2022 Sales |

The full-size SUV segment will more likely be rejuvenated soon as the all-new Fortuner, the new Kodiaq and the new Tiguan could arrive in India in the near future. The second-gen Kodiaq takes an evolutionary approach to design and the interior is brand new. It has a lot in common with the new-gen Superb, which will be revealed later this year.
Both the upcoming Tiguan and Kodiaq SUVs are underpinned by the updated version of the MQB-EVO platform. They could continue with the 2.0L TSI four-cylinder petrol engine producing 200 bhp and 320 Nm, paired with a seven-speed DCT in India.
