Ford to commence Smart Mobility LLC as pilot project of smart shuttle service for its employees in Chennai

Ford is trying to find new ways to grow in India. Apart from focusing on launching new products, the American auto major is also aiming to enter the shared mobility space of the country. Targeting that goal, the brand is ready to initiate Smart Mobility LLC as a pilot project for its smart shuttle service in Chennai. Initially, this service will be used by the Ford employees only.

The service will commence in Chennai from the end of this year it will help the brand to develop technology and system for further expansion. Ford is also in talks with authorities in Indore to provide smart infrastructure as part of its ambitious and futuristic shared mobility service. As Indian government is thriving for smart cities across the country, Ford sees major opportunity to cash on with its smart mobility solution.

In that case, we might see the auto major introducing its electric powered cars in future. Apart from that, it would also tie up with the app-based cab service providers as well. However, the automaker is yet to reveal further details about its futuristic plans. But, it believes India is going to be a fantastic market for smart mobility services in near future.

Considering the government’s initiate to introduce smart mobility solutions across the country and construction of new roads and infrastructure, Ford believes it has good reason to invest in smart mobility service here. The brand clears its ambition to commercially launch the smart shared mobility service across the country in near future, but didn’t specify the timeframe.

It’s not only Ford that is emphasising on shared mobility. In recent past we have seen several other auto manufacturers present in the domestic market also tied up with app-based cab service providers like Uber and Ola. Seeing the opportunity in the sector, Ford too wants to grab a sizeable share in the potential shared mobility market.
