Ford is working on the facelift EcoSport, as well as on a new generation model also
Ford Motors is mulling the possibility of an EcoSport hybrid. The rumors suggest the car is due to hit the Indian market sometime in 2020 or 2021. The hybrid powertrain equipped car will come as a completely new generation model. The American auto manufacturer is presently working on a facelifted version of the car. Meanwhile it has also started working on a new generation model of EcoSport.
The facelifted model has been spied testing quite a few times. The model is expected to hit the Indian roads sometime during late 2016 or next year. The car comes with a fully redesigned front fascia. The changes are expected to incorporate in the headlamp clusters, radiator grille design, fog lamps, and front bumper.
The rear profile of the facelifted model will also don some changes; expectedly at the rear bumper, taillights. The interior of the facelifted model will get drastic changes. The centre console to be precise will come in a completely new look. It gets more stylish and sharper appearance compared to the outgoing model. It will get a Ford SYNC 2 touchscreen infotainment system. The next generation model on the other hand would get more updates and redesigning attempts.
The facelifted model will come incorporated with some mechanical changes as well. The 1.0 litre Ecoboost petrol engine of EcoSport is a widely popular engine across the world. This turbocharged engine will make its way into the facelifted version. Also it would get a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine from Dragon family under the hood.
As the 1.0 litre Ecoboost petrol engine has garnered vehement popularity around the world, we can expect this same engine to be continued in the new generation model as well. The reports suggest Ford is also working on a hybrid powertrain which would come along with this engine. Also it might get an electric version as well. In that case, it would be the first such powertrain from the American auto major.
