The Ford Ka Urban Warrior Concept is in its near production state and hints at a possible sedan based on the Freestyle
Ford sells the Ka sedan in the South American markets with big popularity. Keen to make a huge impact, the standard model has been given a makeover to address the adventure-seeking community in the form of a concept. The Ford Ka Urban Warrior Concept can be easily differentiated from the regular Ka due to the exterior modifications.
Even though described as a concept, it is in its close-to-production attire hinting that Ford might actually introduce it as a top-spec version targetting a new set of customers. The Ka sedan, essentially the stretched version of the Figo Aspire sold in India, is a conventional looker but has raised ride height and purposeful changes on the concept.
The proposed adventurous sedan has been revealed ahead of its global premiere at the 2018 São Paulo Motor Show hosted between November 8 and 18. With internet reports suggesting that Ford has already road-tested the concept, we could see it enter production in the near future probably as a sedan based on the recently launched Freestyle crossover.
It boasts sturdy visual appearance with increased ground clearance and has black cladding all around. The headlamps, heavily meshed front grille and fog lamp section have their share of black accents that synchronise well with the contrast red paint job. The wheel arches are prominent and comes finished in thick black surrounds.
The concept rides on 15-inch pearlescent gray alloy wheels and gets silver skid plates up front and rear for added off-roading character, an all-black interior, black wing mirrors and B-pillars as well as an unique black boot applique. The Ford Ka Urban Warrior Concept derives power a 1.5-litre TiVCT Flex engine with no change in power and torque figures.
It is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 128 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 153 Nm of peak torque delivered at 4,500 rpm in the standard gasoline form. However, with ethanol, the performance outputs change by a good margin with the power rated 136 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 158 Nm of maximum torque at 4,500 rpm. It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission.
A long list of key features available in the Ka Urban Warrior Concept are 6.5-inch capacitive touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC3 connectivity, six airbags, leather seat upholstery with orange stitches, blue dials on the instrument cluster, reverse parking sensors and camera, traction control, hill start assist, etc.
