Ford is betting big on the electrification of its cars from 2019; Endeavour could be one to receive hybrid powertrain
Ford is planning to launch 13 hybrid cars by 2021. In its drive toward introducing greener mobility across its portfolio, the American auto major is gearing up to roll out electrified versions of the existing cars. The big SUVs play an important role in this strategy and we expect the Ford Endeavour to be one of them to receive the hybrid powertrain technology.
The electrified cars will start arriving in the market from 2019 and the company has already invested $4.5 billion (Rs. 450 crore) for the development of the 13 environment friendly cars. Interestingly, Ford’s iconic sports coupe Mustang too is among the cars to receive hybrid technology. However, the India-spec Ford Mustang is very unlikely to receive the hybrid tech.

Ford’s hybrid car dream is nothing new, as previously the automaker sold hybrid version of the Escape between 2004 and 2012. But, due to poor sales it was discontinued. Now, with the demand for greener hybrid and pure electric cars increasing, the auto manufacturer is once again showing interest in developing electrified cars.
Speaking about Indian market, we may see the company introducing a hybrid version of the Endeavour here. It would certainly get an edge over the rivals with extra mileage compared to the current Endeavour. As Ford is currently working on a facelift version of the Endeavour, it would be really interesting to see the brand introducing a hybrid powertrain to the model. However, there is no confirmation about it from the auto major.

Currently, Ford is gearing up to launch the facelifted EcoSport that is expected to hit the market on 15th September, right ahead of the festive season. The refreshed EcoSport comes incorporating several design update at exterior and inside the cabin. It receives several new features in order to become more upmarket. Also, it could get a new 120 PS generating 1.5-litre Dragon series engine.
