Ford is planning to launch the Figo facelift model in India by March, 2019 and it will come with a new 1.2L petrol engine
Ford officially launched the facelift model of Aspire compact sedan earlier this week in India and the company is planning to launch the Figo facelift model in India by March 2019. The facelift model was revealed earlier this year and sales have begun in some International markets also.
The hatchback model comes with the same changes we have seen on the Aspire. The front gets tweaked chrome finished grille with a new bumper and C-shape for fog lamp housing. The side design is carried over from the current model and the only change is a new design for 15-inch alloy wheels on the top end model.
The rear is expected to get a tweaked tail lamp along with new bumper to make the hatchback look sporty. Ford might introduce some new colour options to give a fresh feel. One of the weak areas of current generation Figo is interior and the new model will get lots of changes.
The dashboard design is similar to the new Freestyle based on Figo as the company has given a new centre console, but the multi-functional steering wheel and instrument cluster are the same from the current model. Ford has replaced the plethora of buttons on the centre console with a high-resolution touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC 3.0
We can expect a small increase in the quality of materials inside the cabin. The Figo will be loaded with features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity with Bluetooth, keyless entry, push button start, reverse camera with parking sensors, electronically controlled exterior mirrors, automatic headlamp and more.
The 1.2 L petrol engine will be replaced with a new 1.2 L dragon series engine from Freestyle producing 96 PS and 120 Nm. The power will be sent to front wheels via new Getrag MX65 5 speed gearbox and it will help the hatchback to shed 15 kgs, which will improve performance and efficiency.
The company will also offer 1.5 L petrol engine from EcoSport with 123 PS and 150 Nm. This engine will be mated to a new 6-speed torque converter replacing the dual clutch transmission. The 1.5 L diesel engine will continue to produce 100 PS and 215 Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to 5-speed manual gearbox.
We can expect the ride and handling to be similar to the current model. The Figo will be loaded with safety features like 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, front row seatbelt reminder and emergency assistance. The hatchback will be priced aggressively like the compact sedan to take on the established rivals like Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10.
