The increase in YoY sales could be down to the recently launched facelift as the Endeavour was updated with notable changes

Ford India suffered yet another disappointing month as only 6,361 units were sold in May 2019 at a massive volume decline of 30 per cent as 9,069 units were retailed during the same month last year. Among the manufacturers, Ford finished seventh behind Tata Motors as none of its volume products performed well.

However, surprisingly, the Endeavour managed to post 79 per cent YoY growth last month. The American manufacturer dispatched 628 units of the Endeavour and retailed more units than the Figo in the process while the segment-leading Toyota Fortuner garnered 1,459 units. This will be down to the facelifted model that was launched in February 2019.

Ford introduced the updated Endeavour after months of anticipation with a starting price of Rs. 28.19 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 2.2-litre Titanium manual variant. The company entered the latest generation Endeavour back in 2016 and the mid-life facelift with several revisions comes as a much-need addition to the domestic lineup.

The facelifted Endeavour costs lesser than the previous model while the 2.2-litre Titanium+ automatic variant is well over Rs. 2 lakh dearer at Rs. 30.60 lakh and the higher-spec 3.2-litre Titanium+ AT costs Rs. 32.97 lakh. The entry-level Trend variant is no more as the 2019 Endeavour is reduced to two grades namely Titanium and Titanium +.

As for the exterior, the 2019 Ford Endeavour features a revised grille, smoked out headlamps, updated front bumper, more premium chrome finish, LED inserts on the tail lamps, newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, new colour scheme named Diffuser Silver in place of the Smoke Grey and so on.

The full-sized SUV continues to use the 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 158 bhp and 385 Nm while the 3.2-litre oil-burner pumps out 197 bhp and 470 Nm. The former is mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed AT. The latter only offered in the Titanium+ variant can be had in a 4WD system as standard with six-speed automatic transmission only. The slew of safety features available are six airbags, ABS with EBD, HSA, ESC, etc.
