The pre-facelifted model has also come under the spotlight as Ford detected problem in welding integrity of the front lower control arm

Ford India has just announced recall for its best-selling EcoSport subcompact SUV in the domestic market. The models manufactured between May 2017 and June 2017 are subjected to the voluntary callback programme as the American auto major says 4,379 examples have been affected.

It essentially means the pre-facelifted model has come under the spotlight of the recall campaign as Ford detected problem in welding integrity of the front lower control arm and it could affect the steering control. Ford has also mentioned that it is issuing a letter to 1,018 EcoSport customers regarding a potential issue on seat recliner locks of the driver and co-passenger seats.

These models were produced between November 2017 and December 2017 and they are the existing updated version launched late last year. The recall will be free-of-cost and owners can schedule the fix with authorised dealers. Understanding the popularity of the EcoSport, Ford has constantly been expanding the range.

The recently introduced Signature and S variants are equipped with power slide sunroof that Ford calls as “fun roof”. The EcoSport S marked the return of award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine that is good enough to kick out a maximum power output of 125 PS and 170 Nm peak torque.
