The popularity of SUVs is rising by a great deal in the recent past, in the coming month, the Indian car market will see the launch of atleast 5 new SUVs in different segments

SUVs are getting popular around the world, and a similar trend can be seen in India too. With the rising popularity, manufacturers are choosing to launch new SUVs in the Indian market over any other body form. Next month, the Indian market will see an influx of various new SUVs from multiple manufacturers. Here are five such SUVs that will be launched in the Indian market in the month of July 2019.

1. Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos has become one of the most anticipated cars, especially after its official unveiling in India earlier this month. Kia has preponed the launch of Seltos in the Indian market to gain on the popularity of the SUVs. The Seltos looks very modern, especially with its newly designed sleek LED DRL headlamps. The SUV also gets uniquely positioned turn indicators.

The Kia Seltos will offer three engine options – 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and a performance-oriented 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will produce a maximum of 140 Bhp.

seltos kiaThere are four transmission options available with the Seltos including a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, a CVT and a 7-speed Dual-clutch transmission. Kia will also offer a range of first-in-segment features including HUD, heated ORVMs, cooled seats and more.

2. MG Hector

MG Motors will soon launch its first model in the Indian market, and it will be a mid-size SUV to take on the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass. The all-new Hector will offer a long list of features. The MG Hector will provide features like a panoramic sunroof, Artificial Intelligence-based Voice Commands and many more such elements.

The Hector is the longest car in the segment, and it looks quite a head-turner on the road, especially from the front. The Hector will come with both petrol and diesel engine options in the Indian market. It will get a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 143 PS and 250 Nm.

It will get an optional 48V mild-hybrid system too. The non-hybrid variants of the car get an option of dual-clutch automatic. The diesel variants of the MG Hector will get the 2.0-litre diesel engine option that produces a maximum of 170 PS and 350 Nm.

3. Hyundai Kona EV

Hyundai will launch the all-new Kona EV in the Indian market on 9th July. It will be the first-ever fully-electric SUV in the Indian market and will be a CBU import, which will put a price tag of around Rs 22 lakhs on the car. It will not be a mass segment product and will be launched to show Hyundai’s technological advancements in the EV field.

The Indian-spec Kona is expected to get the 39 kW battery pack that will deliver a range of 312 km on a single charge. It produces a maximum of 136 PS and 395 Nm and can do 0-100 km/h in just 9.7 seconds.

4. Jeep Compass Trailhawk

Jeep will bring a more capable version of the Compass, which gets the Trailhawk name. It will get a separate low-ratio transfer case that makes it an extremely capable under challenging situations. The Compass Trailhawk also gets a higher ground clearance than the regular model.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk also gets higher approach angle and departure angle, which makes it capable for the off-roading situations even more. The Trailhawk version gets a lot of off-roading friendly equipment that can be useful for enthusiasts. Engine-wise, it remains powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 170 PS and 350 Nm.

5. Renault Triber UV

The Renault Triber will be launched in the Indian market soon, it will be a sub-4m UV, which will ensure a low-cost price for the Triber. Even though it will be launched in the MPV segment, it looks like an SUV. The Triber will get a unique feature like a removable third-row seat. It will get a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with optional AMT automatic transmission.

The Triber will also get the basic level of safety, including standard ABS+EBD. It also receives an automated climate control system, a fully digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
