The production-spec Harrier SUV stays true to the concept and draws some of its styling inspiration from Nexon as well

There is no doubt in the fact that the upcoming Tata Harrier SUV has a lot of fan following even before its launch. Tata Motors has left no stones unturned in promoting the upcoming SUV by dropping teasers of it going through various developmental and testing stages. We also have seen few spy shots of the SUV in full camouflage while it was being tested on road.

However, the first image of the production-spec harrier was leaked recently which gives us a clear view of its styling and how it will look in flesh. The Harrier SUV stays true to the concept H5X which was showcased at the 2018 Auto expo as Tata Motors already mentioned earlier. The SUV was caught without camouflage inside Tata Motors facility recently.

The single image reveals the SUV’s side profile and you will be happy to know that the Harrier’s rear three-quarter profile looks similar to its younger brother Nexon. The production version of the Harrier SUV gets a sloping roofline which doubles up and ends as a rear spoiler; the D-Pillar, in particular, has a sporty styling element and looks identical to the Nexon SUV.

The Harrier SUV gets a sharp and sporty looking full LED taillamps towards the rear while the rear bumper in particular looks kind of sporty as well as rugged at the same time. All that credit goes to the skid plates which you will most probably also find in the front bumper as well.

This is most probably a test unit and thus the alloy wheels which you see in the spy image is definitely not the production-spec alloys you will notice in the production-spec Harrier when it launches. The Harrier is based on Tata’s OMEGA platform and will be powered by a 2.0-litre KYROTEC engine, sourced from Fiat Motors. This is the same engine which also powers the Jeep Compass SUV as well.

The diesel unit is expected to produce around 140 Bhp of peak power in the Harrier and will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox while there will also be a 6-speed automatic transmission on offer too sourced from Hyundai. Expect the Tata Harrier SUV to be priced in between 16-21 Lakhs when it is launched here finally towards early 2019.
