Toyota launched the all-new Supra in the international markets recently, the first-ever production model went for a mind-boggling price
Toyota all-new Supra debuted in the international market earlier this year. The all-new car retails at about $50,000 in the USA market. Toyota held the auction of the first-ever car rolling off the production line of the all-new Supra in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. The first-ever model of the 2020 Toyota Supra sold for $2.1 million.
The money from the bidding will go to the charity as announced by the bidding house. It is over 40 times the list price of the car. The winner of the auction also gets a “VIP race track experience”, a customised racing suit and two VIP passes to NASCAR’s Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway.
The winner will also get a chance to drive the pace car and take a few hot laps with Micheal Waltrip, who is two-time Daytona 500 winner. The first car gets the VIN number 20201. 2020 in the VIN indicated the production version while the “1” stands for the 1st production model.
It gets the beautiful matte grey paint scheme with red mirror caps and matte-black wheels. The interiors get decked up in a carbon-fibre trim. It is a unique colour combination and will not be available with any other 2020 Toyota Supra from the factory. The car’s engine cover has been specially signed by Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda.
The all-new Supra has been developed with BMW. It is making a comeback after 17 long years. It is the fifth generation Supra and it keeps the retro-ish modern design alive. The all-new Supra is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, twin-scroll turbocharged engine that produces a maximum power of 335 Bhp and a peak torque of 495 Nm.
The power goes to the rear wheel through a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Toyota claims that it can do 0-100 km/h in just 4.1 km/h and reach a top speed of 250 km/h. The Supra gets a perfect 50:50 weight distribution and a double bubble roof for aerodynamic design.
