Fiat Fullback pickup truck will go on sale from July 4th onwards; gets powered by a 2.4-litre diesel engine with 150 hp and 180 hp power outputs

It was announced in April that Fiat will be launching its new pickup truck in several European markets and it certainly has done so by introducing it in the UK market. The Italian car manufacturer showcased the Fullback at The Commercial Vehicle Show 2016, in Birmingham NEC, in the UK prior to the launch at the end of April.

It measures 5,285 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width and 1,780 mm in height while offering a payload of up to 1,045 kg – 5 kilos less than the capacity of Mitsubishi L200. It features a massive towing capacity of up to 3,090 kg. The Fullback will compete against the likes of the Nissan Navara NP300, Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux and Volkswagen Amarok.

With the new Fullback, Fiat has entered into the ever competitive medium duty pickup truck segment as specifications and prices were disclosed yesterday. The new Fullback is nothing but a rebadged and reworked version of the Mitsubishi L200 pickup. It will be made available in two variants namely SX and LX.

It will be an attractive proposition for the Europeans seeking pickup trucks as it comes with loads of goodies. The standard equipment being offered are electrically adjustable ORVMs, electric windows, DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity, bigger 16-inch alloy wheels, remote central locking system, air conditioning with rear vents and leather ornamented multi-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with mounted controls.

The muscular pickup has smooth flowing lines which substantiate its aggressiveness.

The base SX version starts at a price tag of £20,995 (Rs. 20.22 lakh) while the range-topping SX grade comes equipped with body-coloured wheel arch guards, larger 17-inch alloy wheels, rear view camera, Lane Departure Warning system, etc. It will carry a price of £22,995 (Rs. 22.14 lakh). Powering the Fiat Fullback is a 2.4-litre diesel engine which is good enough to produce 150 hp and 380 Nm of peak torque in the SX and 180 hp and 430 Nm in the LX.

In the SX, power is sent to the four-wheel drive system via six-speed manual ‘box composing three settings: 2H, 4H and 4L. The LX’s all-wheel drive system has three setting, 2H, 4H, 4HLc and 4LLc that are electrically controlled with a locking central diff. If buyers want to choose the automatic version in the LX, they would have to pay £24,395 (Rs. 23.49 lakh).
