Fiat 500X Facelift Officially Revealed With New Petrol Engine

The new petrol engine for the Fiat 500X facelift is made from aluminium to reduce weight as the 1.0 L 3 cylinder petrol engine produces 120 hp of power and 190 Nm of torque

Fiat 500X facelift model officially revealed and it is available in two variants – Urban and Cross. The company has made minor changes for exterior and interior the front gets updated headlamps with new DRLs and LED lights instead of projectors along with new front bumper.

The rear gets new bumper along with LED tail lights and the Cross model comes with aluminium skid plates. The interior changes on the new model is even more subtle than exterior as the company has given redesigned instrument cluster along with new steering wheel. The switchgear also gets a minor update and features list continues to be same.

The 7-inch touchscreen system now comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity along with Bluetooth. This system can also connect with Fiat’s Uconnect app to use TomTom navigation. The company has also updated the cruise control system and 500X now comes with 18-inch alloy wheels.

The major changes for the Fiat 500X facelift have come under the hood as Fiat introduced a new petrol engine for 500X. To make sure that the new petrol engine work flawlessly, the company has tested it over 3.1 million km on road, 60,000 hours of real-life off-vehicles tests and 75,000 km of the virtual test, which helped engineers to make this engine 20 per cent more efficient than previous engines.

The new 1.0 L 3 cylinder petrol engine for the Fiat 500X facelift is made from aluminium to reduce weight and it produces 120 hp of power and 190 Nm of torque. The 1.3 L four-cylinder petrol engine puts out 150 hp and 270 Nm of torque. Both these engines come with front wheel drive option only, but the smaller engine gets 6-speed gearbox and 1.3 L engine is mated to 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

Fiat is also offering three diesel engines with the Fiat 500X facelift, viz. 1.3 L with 95 hp, 1.6 L with 120 hp and 2.0 L with 150 hp. These engines are mated to 6-speed manual and new 9-speed automatic gearbox with either front wheel or all-wheel drive system. The 500X also comes with lots of safety features like traffic sign recognition, lane assist, autonomous emergency braking and more.
