FCA India Finally Opens Up About Landmark Jeep Incident

A video went viral few days ago showing a Jeep Compass customer being beaten up by Landmark Jeep showroom staff in Delhi

FCA India has finally cleared the air over the Landmark Jeep incident that took place in Delhi, where showroom staff were seen beating a Jeep Compass customer in a video, which went viral. The automaker has acknowledged the video’s authenticity and promised appropriate action. Meanwhile, the dealership owner has issued a statement informing that the issue was amicably resolved later.

What we saw in the video was that a Jeep Compass customer was being manhandled by the Landmark Jeep showroom staff in Delhi. The dealership claims, the customer misbehaved with some of the staff of Landmark Jeep showroom over the delay of Jeep Compass he booked. The incident took place in national capital on 29th September 2017.

While the dealership has condemned the incident in its official statement, it also claimed that the manhandling was the consequence of unacceptable behaviour of the customer with some of the female staff of the Jeep outlet. As per the statement, the issue was resolved in presence of police and the customer too apologized for his behaviour towards the staff of the showroom.

After the incident came in light through the viral video, Jeep India drew flak from several people including the Jeep customers. However, the actual reason was not cleared why the unfortunate incident took place. Also, it was not clear, what step the automaker took following the incident.

In its official statement, FCA India claims it has taken the issue very seriously and it is currently investing the incident. However, it is not clear, what are going to be the steps by the brand. No matter what, such an incident could be affecting for the brand that is trying to establish itself in a highly competitive market.

Jeep India presently has more than 50 dealerships across the country that sell four different SUVs. These are the Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee SRT and the most affordable Jeep in India Compass. The company is also preparing to introduce Renegade in domestic market.
