Mahindra Inferno gets a new exterior design but the interior is shared with Ssangyong Tivoli and it is loaded with lots of features
Mahindra is planning to launch Inferno compact SUV in early 2019 and the company is conducting final testing now. The compact SUV is codenamed as S201 and it is based on the SsangYong Tivoli platform, which makes it the third product in Mahindra’s lineup to come with monocoque chassis. Thanks to our reader Shashank for sharing these exclusive interior images with us.
The interior design of Inferno is shared with Tivoli and the dashboard get the black finish for the top layer while the lower part gets the same beige colour theme like the rest of the cabin. The company has given new three spoke multi-function steering wheel with silver accents. The centre console gets integrated touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The dual-zone climate controls are placed below it and the Inferno is loaded with features like leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, auto dimming IRVM, cruise control, sunroof, automatic headlamps, reverse camera with parking sensors, USB charging points, rear AC controls, electronically controlled exterior mirrors and more.
We can expect the quality of materials of the cabin to be par among with rivals. The Inferno will be a 5 seater and the compact SUV might come with good space for both front and rear passengers. The exterior design is completely new as the company has given new front grille, which is shared with new Alturas G4 and it gives an aggressive look.
The Inferno aka S201 get black plastic cladding running across the body and the production model will come with either 16 or 17-inch wheels with a machine cut finish. The rear gets LED tail lamps along with new bumper and an integrated spoiler. Mahindra is expected to give dual-tone colour options for S201 to make it stand out.
The S201 will be powered by a new 1.2 L turbocharged petrol engine with 135 PS of power. The diesel engine is the same 1.5 L BSVI ready engine from Marazzo producing 121 bhp of power at 3,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. These engines are mated to a manual and automatic transmission with front wheel drive configuration.
