Gaadiwaadi has learnt exclusive details on the new Hyundai Santro mileage and specs, here are all the details on the Kwid and upcoming Maruti Wagon R rival
The new Hyundai Santro (AH2) is only weeks away from its market launch on 23 October 2018. Ahead of its global debut, we have learnt some new details of the new model. As per our sources, the new-gen Santro will offer an ARAI-certified mileage of 20.3 kmpl.
Also, the 1.1-litre petrol engine of the Maruti Wagon R-rival will produce 69 PS and 99 Nm. It will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional 5-speed AMT. Both the transmissions will have the same mileage figures.
Similar to the variant lineup of the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Hyundai Elite i20, the new Hyundai Santro will be available in five trim levels – Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta. In order to be compliant with the new safety norms, all the variants will feature a driver’s side airbag, ABS, reverse parking sensors, speed alert warning, and seatbelt reminder for the front occupants.
Prices of the new Hyundai Santro could start from Rs 4 lakh. It will not only rival the Maruti Wagon R but will also compete with the Maruti Celerio, Renault Kwid 1.0, and Tata Tiago. It will replace the Eon.
While the current entry-level hatchback from Hyundai is underpinned by the low-cost PA platform, the new Hyundai Santro will be based on an improved version of the old i10’s HA platform. This will lead to higher safety and better dynamics.
Even the 1.1-litre petrol engine for the new Hyundai Santro comes from the old i10 but if gets updated to offer a slightly higher fuel efficiency, better performance figures, and lower emissions.
The Maruti Wagon R rival will become the first Hyundai to offer an optional AMT. As AMTs are mostly as efficient as their manual counterparts, even the mileage figures of both the versions remain the same.
