Hero Maestro 125 will use the 124.6 cc BSVI-ready air-cooled engine found in the Destini 125 with fuel injection technology

Hero MotoCorp’s current lineup has four scooters with the latest one being its biggest hit in recent times. The Destini 125 was launched in October 2018 and it quickly entered top 10 monthly selling chart for scooters the following month with 16,047 units. It began clawing up the ranks further and crossed 20,000 mark for the first time in Jan 2019 before selling more than 24,000 units in February to comfortably beat TVS’ Ntorq 125.

The first scooter sold with Hero’s patented i3S idle start/stop technology debuted at the 2018 Auto Expo as Duet 125 alongside Maestro Edge 125. Riding on the momentum created by Destini 125 and to capitalise on the good reception among customers for 125 cc scooters, Hero will be launching the Maestro Edge 125 next month in India as we can exclusively reveal.

The Hero Maestro Edge 125 will use a fuel-injected version of the 124.6 cc BSVI-ready single-cylinder air-cooled engine that is dubbed as Energy Boost. The same powertrain in the Destini 125 produces a maximum power output of 8.70 bhp at 6,750 rpm and 10.2 Nm of peak torque delivered at 5,000 rpm. The i3S technology will also likely be employed for returning appreciable fuel economy.

Currently, the Maestro Edge is powered by a 110 cc air-cooled engine with 8 bhp power and 8.7 Nm torque. The 125 cc version will certainly pump out more performance mated to a CVT transmission. As for the exterior, the Maestro Edge 125 will have premium styling while staying in the lines with the smaller Maestro Edge in overall appearance.

It will likely produce more power and torque than the Destini 125 due to the FI technology and expect it to be positioned as a more upmarket offering compared to the top-selling scooter. Hero is working towards expanding its scooter portfolio while updating the existing models and the launch of dual-purpose entry-level Xpulse 200 and 200 T adventure motorcycles is not far away either.

The 2019 Pleasure was recently spied with a redesigned front apron featuring silver insert with turn signals on either side and the hexagonal headlamp has silver surround along with silver strip on to the side panel. The updated Pleasure is also expected to be launched in the coming months.
