Bajaj Scrambler will likely be based on the Dominar 400 cruiser sharing same platform; could be priced under Rs. 2 lakh
Bajaj Auto is working on a new premium motorcycle, which will be based on the brand’s current flagship model Dominar 400. Bajaj CEO Rajiv Bajaj has already hinted about the model, and the brand is expected to officially announce about the upcoming motorcycle within next three months according to some reports. It is going to be a scrambler, which will be priced between Rs. 1 lakh – Rs. 2 lakh range.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is available priced from Rs. 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It has received pretty good response from the domestic buyers and the company has designed and developed this model keeping the overseas export markets in mind as well as it’s one of the brand’s prioritised areas. The upcoming Dominar based scrambler too is likely to be walking the same path.

The Bajaj CEO has cleared that the company won’t be focusing on the mass market products. Instead, it is emphasising on the premium products with global standards. The Dominar comes as part of that plan and the new scrambler too is going to be following the same strategy. Expect the upcoming motorcycle to come wearing a full LED headlamp, fully digital instrument cluster, a chunky and muscular fuel tank.
Despite being a scrambler model, the upcoming Bajaj motorcycle will surely share some components and design element with its power cruiser sibling. It could come wearing the Dominar badge too, just as Rajiv Bajaj indicated earlier and the name has been trademarked in India as we can exclusively reveal. The Dominar 400 is powered by the same 373.2 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DTS-i engine that works in the KTM Duke 390.

In the Bajaj Dominar 400, the engine churns out 35 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. It gets a 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch. Expect the same engine for the Dominar based scrambler, but the power and torque output could come different. Bajaj seems to be preparing more from the Dominar badge and the Scrambler will certainly be a healthy addition to the new flagship product lineup.
